Saturday – 2pm to 6.30pm
Join us for an afternoon of storytelling and industry insights as we peel back the layers of the contemporary art world. Speakers include:
RONE: The master of ephemeral installations takes us behind the scenes, unpacking the massive logistical and emotional undertakings of his recent blockbuster projects.
Callum Preston: A journey through nostalgia and DIY culture. Callum discusses the world behind Video Land, Milk Bar and his unique multidisciplinary practice.
Ginger Taylor: Ginger Taylor is a Naarm – based illustrator, muralist, and unapologetic Dolly Parton worshipper with the energy of a raccoon who just found a bag of chips.
Her art is what happens when ADHD meets cartoons, pop culture, and an unhealthy obsession with dogs in tiny outfits.
2pm – 3pm Ginger Taylor
3.15pm – 4.30pm Callum Preston
4.45pm – 6.30pm RONE
Sunday – 10am to 11:30am
Peril & Paris did not just inhabit Australia’s 1980s underground; they claimed the throne. Operating at the intersection of B-boy style and graffiti mastery, they became Melbourne’s premier duo, cementing legendary status through relentless work and secret identities that operated twice as hard as the rest.
This history is delivered by Puzle Press, the boutique publisher founded by legendary writer Puzle. Following the monumental success of Kings Way: The Beginnings of Australian Graffiti – the definitive bible of the scene – Puzle Press continues its mission to preserve raw, first-hand cultural accounts.
With a personal archive of over 600 images, Claim 2 Fame is the next chapter in this preservation. It documents a steadfast partnership and a Hip Hop legacy that inspired a generation.
On Saturday 18 and Sunday 19 April, we bring this history to life at the Benalla Street Art Festival. Peril & Paris will be painting live and joining us for a Q&A, offering rare insight into the grit required to build a movement from the pavement up.
